Jaina is a ranged assassin hailing from the Warcraft III and World of Warcraft universe. She’s one of the most feared heroes in the game best used in hit-and-run attacks to lower down players’ health while your team finishes them off. She’s great at chasing fleeing players slowing them down with all her abilities thanks to her frostbite trait which applies chill to all her abilities, affecting the target with slow for 4 sec.

Bloodlust isn’t as Good as You Think

Or: How to Rehgar to best effect.

Despite his history as a gladiator, Rehgar isn’t a front line fighter in Heroes of the Storm. Sure, he’s beefier than the ranged support, but he can’t stand toe-to-toe with any warrior the way Uther can, and most assassins will eat him. He doesn’t have the strongest basic heal and his disable is good when placed properly but lacks the obvious power of Polymorph or Lunar Flare. It’s like Entangling Roots but just slows, not stops. Lightning Shield is great to drop on your beefy warriors who always find themselves in the thick of it and Ghost Wolf makes you slippery and mobile.

Rehgar’s strengths are in his mobility, mana efficiency, and the diversity of his toolbox. His weaknesses are that none of his abilities, outside of his ultimates, are game changers and his contribution to a team fight, aside from his abilities, is low. He doesn’t hit hard, even in Ghost Wolf, and can often get in the way of Sonya the Slayer, Illidan, or Stitches.

So how do you build and use Rehgar to make him shine? How do you maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses? Well, first let’s talk about his abilities.

Hero Guide: Nova

Nova is a nasty little hero – a ranged assassin. She’s a predator, a ganker, pure and simple. She can lane and pick up a few talents that boost her laning potential, but Nova shines when she’s cloaked, stalking, and punishing heroes low on life. Or not low on life. With a single ally nearby, Nova can bring almost anyone down. She’s fragile though, and a few hits from enemies is enough to kill her. Used correctly, Nova is brutal and terrifying. Used poorly, she’s free food.

Heroes of the Storm – Li Li Stormstout Talents

Blizzard Entertainment revealed four new Heroes at PAX East 2014, and within four days made Li Li Stormstout available to play in Heroes of the Storm Technical Alpha on April 15th.

Li Li Stormstout is an easy-to-learn support Hero who can heal her allies, and push and blind enemies with the force of a wind gust.

Origin

Li Li Stormstout was introduced into the Warcraft universe through a graphic novel published by DC Comics, titled World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria. Her story was written by Blizzard publishing lead and New York Times best selling author Micky Neilson, and illustrated by Sean Galloway.

The graphic novel is also available as a digital download for various mobile devices and for the Windows PC.

li-li-stormstout-shopShortly after, Li Li Stormstout was introduced along with Chen Stormstout as an NPC in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria closed beta. She is found originally on the eastern side of the Valley of the Four Winds. There they accompany the player in a long-journey throughout the Valley of the Four Winds, stopping at different locations and providing quests in each hub. The adventure ends at the Stormstout Brewery dungeon.

Li Li Stormstout and her uncle Chen are later seen by the player in the Dread Wastes where we find out the fate of some of their new-found family members.

The official World of Warcraft website also published a prelude to the Mists of Pandaria MMO expansion titled Destination: Pandaria. It features the adventures of Li Li Stormstout as she traveled the world and ultimately reached Pandaria.

zeratul-store-thumbnailZeratul debuted in StarCraft: Brood War (1999), appeared in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty during the Tidings of Doom cinematic, as well as a few bonus missions accessed at the Lab Room’s Ihan crystal — which collected the memories of Zeratul’s quest for ancient prophecies in Xel’Naga temples.

Zeratul appeared also in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm mentoring Kerrigan to lead her into the path to her destiny as the prophesied savior of the universe against Amon and his hybrids.

History

Zeratul is a renowned psionic warrior who has been instrumental in healing the rift between the dark templar and the Aiur protoss. Although his heroic actions have saved countless lives, he bears the weight of many terrible burdens.

Zeratul is a dark templar, a renowned psionic warrior and assassin whose forbears were exiled from the protoss homeworld of Aiur over a thousand years ago.

The dark templar refused to submerge themselves in the communal protoss mind link, the Khala, preferring instead to strive as individuals. Zeratul holds the rank of prelate and is probably best known for his role in ensuring the survival of the protoss since the zerg threat first became apparent.

“I have journeyed through the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities….”

It was Zeratul who overcame the prejudices of Executor Tassadar when they met on Char, and thus began to heal the rift between the Aiur protoss and the dark templar. It was Zeratul who was the first to slay a zerg cerebrate although the cerebrates had been thought immortal. Most of all it was Zeratul who returned to Aiur with Tassadar and set into motion the events that would rejoin the sundered halves of the protoss race and overthrow the oppressive rulership of the Conclave.

Zeratul went on to fight alongside Tassadar to bring about the destruction of the zerg Overmind during the invasion of Aiur, and then helped the protoss evacuate the planet as it continued to be overrun by the zerg. When the Swarm followed the refugees to the dark templar world of Shakuras, Zeratul helped recover the Khalis and Uraj crystals, which allowed the protoss to activate the xel’naga temple there and wipe out the invaders. Later, when the dark archon Ulrezaj threatened to destroy the Aiur protoss “violating” Shakuras, Zeratul was instrumental in thwarting Ulrezaj’s schemes.

But Zeratul also carries many terrible burdens. In the act of slaying the cerebrate Zasz, Zeratul became temporarily linked with the Overmind. Zeratul came to know much about the Overmind’s plans, but the zerg leader gleaned the location of Aiur itself from Zeratul’s mind, and so the seeds of the planet’s devastation were sown. Furthermore, Zeratul has a long and bitter history with the Queen of Blades, having been manipulated and betrayed by her more than once as she destroyed the remaining zerg cerebrates in order to secure her control over the Swarm after the Overmind’s death.

As part of her schemes, the Queen of Blades took control of the beloved protoss matriarch Raszagal. Zeratul later rescued the matriarch, but he found her to be irrevocably corrupted. Sorrowfully he took the matriarch’s life to spare her from continuing as the plaything of the Queen of Blades. With her mind freed by the deathblow, Raszagal thanked him and named him as leader of the dark templar. Such an honor Zeratul felt unfit to take, his soul too scarred by his experiences.

Well spoken, Concubine of the Zerg. But though we strike at you from the shadows, do not think that we lack the courage to stand in the light.

For the moment he focused on a more immediate concern: contacting any other nearby protoss who had survived the Queen of Blades’ treachery. Tracking protoss power signatures to an obscure moon, he hoped to reunite with his comrades and return to Shakuras with them in order to plan for the future. Instead of comrades, however, he found a former agent of the Queen of Blades – the enigmatic Samir Duran – engaged in breeding protoss/zerg hybrid creatures. Although Zeratul destroyed the facility, Duran claimed that it was merely one of many. Duran also revealed that he had been known by many names over the millennia and that he was not serving the Queen of Blades, but rather a “far greater power.” Deeply troubled by what he had seen, Zeratul went into self-imposed exile with only a handful of followers at his side. He continued to seek answers for what manner of being Duran truly was, and what dark future he was working toward.

Heroes of the Storm – Sgt. Hammer – Talents

Backstory

sgt-hammer-portraitThere is no actual backstory or lore for Sergeant Hammer. She has never appeared in any StarCraft video game, novels, manga, comics, nor short stories at the time of this entry.

Sgt. Hammer plays the role of Ranged Specialist. She operates a Terran Tank which can go into Siege Mode to attack distant targets with indiscriminate justice. She can lay spider mines at a short range around her to damage incoming threats, and packs a punch with a short range cannon shot that can knockback her approaching enemies.

Under the guidance of Cenarius – the demigod of nature and patron of druids – the venerable Malfurion Stormrage has protected the night elves from demonic invaders for millennia. During the War of the Ancients, Malfurion was among those who defended all life on Azeroth from the terrible Burning Legion, along with his future lover Tyrande Whisperwind and his brother Illidan. After their victory against the demons, Malfurion saw to it that the night elves left the Legion’s ravages behind, settling in a new home near Mount Hyjal and overseeing the growth of the World Tree, Nordrassil. The Aspect of Dreams, Ysera, linked Nordrassil to the Emerald Dream—a representation of Azeroth without war and interference from sentient beings—allowing all druids, including Malfurion, access to the realm. Malfurion and others explored the Dream for centuries.

Malfurion was awakened by Tyrande to aid the resistance against the Legion once more during the Third War; upon returning to his slumber, he battled his nemesis, the satyr Xavius, who was attempting to corrupt the Emerald Dream from inside. When Deathwing broke the world and stirred the rage of elementals during the Cataclysm, Malfurion left the night elven capital of Darnassus, and gathered his fellow druids to save Azeroth once more, creating a task force to stop the invasion led by the vicious firelord Ragnaros. With the Destroyer’s demise, a finally wakeful Malfurion rejoined Tyrande to support the efforts of the Alliance.

Malfurion was originally introduced in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

The short story was reprinted within the pages of the eBook titled Diablo III: Heroes Rise, Darkness Falls (available on PC/Mac, Kindle and other Devices).

The latest appearance of Valla the Demon Hunter was in the pages of Diablo III: Storm of Light by Nate Kenyon. This novel is a Reaper of Souls novel tie-in bridging the gap between Diablo III and the expansion. Tyrael has sensed the Black Soulstone is corrupting the High Heavens and changing the Angiris Council. For this matter, Tyrael recruited a team of heroes in Sanctuary to raid the High Heavens in order to steal the Black Soulstone.

The heroes recruited by Tyrael are: Valla the Demon Hunter, Zayl the Necromancer, Gynvir the Barbarian, Shanar the Wizard, Mikulov the Monk and Jacob of Staalbreak. Shortly after the events of this novel, Tyrael and the new Horadrim deposit the Black Soulstone deep within the Bloodmarch in Westmarch (as seen in the Reaper of Souls cinematic).
