Is the Raven Lord coming to Heroes of the Storm?

Blizzard Entertainment posted an enigmatic Facebook update simply sharing an image of the Raven Lord, and the words: “This will be interesting.”

Is the Raven Lord the next hero coming to the game?

Personally, I think the beginning of the end for Heroes of the Storm was the introduction of this Nexus lore — because it spelled that all the new heroes developed for this lore would take away space from adding new heroes based on the known Blizzard IPs.

It would have been acceptable if Blizzard had already published a brand-new IP game based on Orphea and the Raven Lord — but using Heroes of the Storm as the petri dish for new heroes and IP — when Heroes of the Storm is absolutely no such thing other than a world where all Blizzard IPs come together … is not what players wanted.

Orphea is fun to play, but I would have loved Blackthorne or Baal, or Itherael, or Ulrezaj — just to name a few — instead of Orphea and Qhira… and now the Raven Lord (possibly).

Heroes of the Storm inexplicably went into maintenance mode months after its eSports tournament plans were cancelled.

This was a game I played religiously nigh every day since Technical Alpha, which I miss; but I stopped playing shortly after the announcement that it entered maintenance mode.

I have said it before. Blizzard should scrap the entire new lore thing and just focus on adding heroes based on Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and other classic games. There is no room for heroes that do not exist in any Blizzard game.

Ship a brand-new fantasy action/rpg IP game based on Orphea’s universe and then we can talk about adding those heroes to Heroes of the Storm. In the meantime, just focus on published games.

But don’t take my word for it. Just read the comments in the Raven Lord Facebook post.
